Scandal

I made my way up to my apartment, shared with the rest of SHINee. I rubbed my eyes tiredly. I hadn’t communicated that much with someone outside of my group in a long time. NichKhun-Sunbae’s face wasn’t leaving my mind and it was tiring to keep thinking about it. My heart kept racing whenever I imagined his smile and eyes glitter at me.

I pulled out my keys from my pocket and opened the door. I closed it as quietly as possible and tried to walk through the living room without waking up any of the members. My attempts were futile as I saw that Key was sitting on the couch, legs crossed over one another, and fingers tapping the armrest of the couch. I winced as he glared at me, glancing at the clock to mark my arrival. Onew was beside him, who seemed less angry, but the disappointment in his eyes hurt more than anything.

“Where were you?” asked Key in a calm, and cool tone. I knew that it wasn’t going to last long; his calm tone I mean. I understood that he was holding back his anger for my sake... but I don’t he knows how much it gets me anxious when he holds back. He was going to burst sooner or later. I hoped for the sooner so that we could just get it over with.

“I... was out...” I replied. I didn’t think that mentioning another group’s name would be the smartest thing as of right now; especially the name of our rival group.

“I’m quite well aware of that. Where, specifically, were you?” I cringed. What was I going to say? Oh, don’t worry Key. I was just out with 2PM’s NichKhun! That’s all! Dear lord that sounded so weird.

“I was watching the soccer game.” Onew and Key sighed. I looked at them guiltily. They knew of my obsession with soccer. They reprimanded it but they allowed me to go watch games all the time.

“MinHo... the soccer game ended 4 hours ago. What could you possibly have been doing for four hours? Even if you walked back home it would only take an hour maximum. And that’s only if you walked really, really slow.” Before I could think of an answer, a brash force made me stumble forward and arms were wrapped around my waist.

“AH!! MinHo-Hyung! Did you buy me my scarf and hat?” asked TaeMin giving me a wink. Now I knew why I loved this kid. I smiled at the young boy. How could anyone be so adorable, smart and loyal? I was glad that TaeMin was on my side.

“Ah... I’m sorry TaeMin-ah. I tried my best to look for the one you wanted. I looked everywhere, but I couldn’t find it.” I peered at Key and Onew from the corner of my eye. It seemed that Key’s anger had died down but Onew seemed to have a slight suspicion.

“Awww... it’s okay! We’ll go together next time!” I smiled at him and looked to Key again.

“Gosh! Why didn’t you just say so in the first place! If you were looking for something for TaeMin I could’ve helped you!” I laughed, guilt still poking at my conscience. Key was such a girl sometimes.

“Anyway! Let’s all be good like JongHyun and go to sleep.” I smiled. Key and Onew went to their room and when TaeMin and I were alone, the young boy began to bombard me with questions.

“Hyung! Where were you? I was so worried! You never come home so late! Did something happen? Did you have fans stalking you? Were you caught? Are you hurt?” I laughed as I saw the glittering in his eyes. I tapped him on the cheek twice and smiled.

“Nothing bad happened, fans weren’t stalking me because I had a disguise, I wasn’t caught by paparazzi and no, I’m not hurt.” I began to walk to my room that was shared with TaeMin.

“Then... did something good happen?” I tried not to look happy or suspicious. How was it that TaeMin just knew these things?

Either I’m a really bad actor, or TaeMin can read people really well.

“What happened?!” he asked giggling and eyes bright.

“I... I met someone and I just lost track of time. That’s all.” I said simply. TaeMin’s eyes went wide with curiosity spilling out from each corner.

“Who?” he asked, “Do you like the person?” I looked at him strangely.

“Why would you think I like them?” I asked him with my eyebrows raised in question.

“You seem really happy when you’re thinking about them.” He said giggling.

“I met a boy today! Not a girl.” TaeMin looked at me as if I was the strange one.

“So?” I looked at him confused.

“What do you mean ‘so’?” I said but he interrupted me.

“Look at Onew-hyung and Key-Hyung. They love each other a lot, don’t they?” My eyes widened in surprise.

“How do you...”

“You guys think I don’t notice. But I do! I know you guys are trying to keep me innocent and all, but still. I’m not blind.” I laughed nervously at his comment. All of SHINee, with the exception of TaeMin, was fully aware of Key and Onew’s relationship. Key, Onew, JongHyun and I had decided that we would tell TaeMin after he was a little older just so that their relationship wouldn’t affect him... in ways that we were afraid it would. It’s not that we weren’t pro homosexuals... it’s just that we knew the whole world wasn’t like us. We wanted TaeMin to have the most normal life that he possibly could. He already has a strange life considering he was a celebrity. We didn’t want it to get any weirder. We were sitting in our separate beds now. The night stand was still on so I could see the slight glimmer in TaeMin’s eyes.

“How long have you known about Key and Onew?” I asked. I wanted to know how fast TaeMin caught onto things.

“I’ve had suspicions since a long time ago. But ever since that time JongHyun begged to take the guest room and make it his own... well... I sort of assumed it was because of Onew and Key being all lovey dovey.” He giggled at the thought.

“So!” he continued, “Who is it?! What’s his name?” I looked at him wondering if I should tell him. But I thought if he was going to notice sooner or later anyway, I might as well.

“NichKhun... from 2PM.” I whispered. His eyes widened and mouth opened into a very wide ovals.

“How... in the world did you meet him? He’s like every girl’s dream boyfriend right now. Especially considering how popular he is. We watched 2PM Idol show. Remember? Girl’s were flocking to him!” I looked down.

“TaeMin-ah! We’re just friends! Nothing more! You’re thinking way over board here. We just met today and both of us are straight. Or at least, I think we both are.” I replied getting ready to sleep. I lay down putting the blue blanket over my head and trying to block out all images of NichKhun-Sunbae.

“Well, from what I get from him on television, he swings both ways!” My eyes widened at this comment and I threw a cushion at him from under the blanket.

“Good night hyung!” he said in his cutesy voice. I scowled and closed my eyes. Hopefully tomorrow, he’ll stop saying these weird things.

I opened my eyes with the sun shining bright into them. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and stretched my muscles. I got up and fixed my hair and walked out. TaeMin was already up and I saw the doors to all the other room were open. Everyone was already awake?

I walked to the living room and saw all the members staring at the T.V. TaeMin was the first to notice me and looked at me apologetically. He took his hand and made a slicing motion at the neck. I looked at him with confusion, my brows frowning together. I began to watch the T.V. They were watching the news. Something about two people. I looked at the pictures that were being shown and my eyes widened.

“Yesterday during the Korea VS Japan soccer game, idol star MinHo of SHINee and NichKhun of 2PM were seen together. They seemed to be getting along quite well and the pictures being shown spread like wild-fire over the web.”

Pictures of me wrapping NichKhun’s hand and eating dokkboki were all being shown. There were also pictures that were pointing out that we were sharing the same water bottle. I winced as I saw pictures of the two of us in front of SM Headquarters; even one of us hugging came up and I sighed. Today was going to be a long day...

“NichKhun-hyung! You are so lucky that JYP doesn’t care shit about what the media says! You’re first scandal is with a boy! Man... who would’ve thought? The great, amazing, handsome NichKhun of 2PM’s first scandal is with another BOY! Man, I’ll never let this one die! Fans are probably dying on the spot right now. But then again, girl’s these days love two male idols together. They’re probably writing fan fiction about you guys! ” JunHo laughed. I shook my head laughing along with him. Everyone in the group knew that I liked both girls and guys. None of them cared either. I looked at the news and the pictures that were being shown. I had to admit we looked quite cute together. But more than anything, MinHo looked absolutely adorable. His smile was... so simple and pure.

“But... knowing SM Entertainment... that MinHo is probably in some deep shit.” I looked at ChanSung curiously.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Well, SM Entertainment probably didn’t want MinHo’s first scandal to be with you. If anything it was probably with someone from SNSD. You know, something to attract more attention to their own company rather than both SM and JYP. He’s probably going to get in trouble.” I looked down to the floor and thought for a few seconds.

Before I knew what I was doing I grabbed my coat and keys.

“Hey!! Hyung! Where are you going?” asked JunHo.

“I’m going to be a knight in shining armour!” I replied.

“Ewww... that’s so cheesy. Just go! Go!” answered ChanSung. I just winked at both of them and they pretended to gag. I laughed and walked out the door. I revved up my motorcycles engine and made my way to SM headquarters.

“What were you thinking?! We told you that you’re first scandal was to be with SNSD Sunny. Why would you do this MinHo!” screamed my manager. I wondered what Lee Soo Man was thinking when he gave SHINee a female manager.

“Please forgive my rash actions.” I said without an ounce of emotion.

“How could you do this? Gahh... My poor NichKhun now has to go through the trouble of dealing with a scandal. Why MinHo? Why with NichKhun? That innocent boy must be suffering so much right now.” My hands were becoming fists at my side. I kept my head down to not show my anger. I must be calm. I don’t want this whole scandal thing to be blown out of proportion. I knew full well that NichKhun and I were just friends. That’s all that I needed to know. That’s all I needed to know...

“You disgust me MinHo.” Before I knew it, I felt a hard, cold hand slap me across the face. I was so shocked I didn’t know how to reply. My hand slowly made its way up to my cheek. It stung. I felt tears well up in my eyes.

‘I will not cry...’ I told myself, ‘I will not cry...’’

“How could you...” and she raised her hand again to strike me. I closed my eyes tightly. I waited for the hit. I waited for the pain. It never came. All I felt was someone spin me around and wrap their arms around my waist.

“THAT’S ENOUGH MISS. LEE,” I looked back towards my manager. It was TVXQ’s manager holding onto my managers arm. I looked to see the person who was holding me and who I saw surprised me.

“NichKhun-Sunbae?” I whispered. He looked angry.

“Ah! Mr. Park. When... When did you get here?” my manager asked fear running through her whole body.

“I will be speaking with CEO Lee Soo Man about this incident Miss. Lee. You do not treat our idols like that.”

“Thanks Hyung!” began NichKhun smiling at Mr. Park. The man did not reply and simply dragged Miss. Lee out the door leaving the two of us in the room.

I felt the hot tears run down my face and I tried to wipe them away but NichKhun beat me to it. I sniffled as quietly as possible. I felt him shuffle my bangs and lift my face with his hand.

“I’m sorry... I should’ve been more careful with you...” I felt the awkward wave wash over us as he said that.

“No!” I began, “It’s wasn’t your fault! I shouldn’t have sneaked out to begin with.” I heard a gentle laughter from the doorway.

“You two sound like you just got MinHo pregnant or something...” said an angelic voice. I looked to see JaeJoong.

“Sunbae!” I said smiling widely. JaeJoong made his way over to me and rubbed my head, messing up my hair. NichKhun had let go of me the moment JaeJoong had entered the room.

“You really are following in TVXQ’s footsteps aren’t you? Getting a scandal with another boy and all!” I laughed and shook my head. I remembered when JaeJoong had gotten a scandal with YunHo. He didn’t have a hard time considering he was really famous by then. JaeJoong turned to look at NichKhun.

“And you must be MinHo’s supposed ‘boyfriend’. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” JaeJoong said in his calm, godly tone. I had always looked up to JaeJoong. He looked so perfect with his doll like face, and his vocals were something to die for.

“Ah... the pleasure is all mine. My name is NichKhun from 2PM.”JaeJoong giggled; probably at his accent. I loved NichKhun’s accent and I’m sure JaeJoong did too.

“Haha! I know! You’re quite popular amongst our ladies in SM Entertainment. CHSJ and SNSD are crazy about you.” I looked down. What was this feeling in the pit of my stomach? I shook my head. It made me feel sick and angry at the same time. JaeJoong merely laughed and NichKhun seemed embarrassed.

“Well you can tell them that MinHo’s the only one for me,” I looked at NichKhun smiling and JaeJoong laughing. I could sense that JaeJoong’s laughter was slightly hesitant. NichKhun had sounded extremely serious as he smiled at me gently. His hand had made its way back to my waist.

I smiled back. JaeJoong turned to me and said,

“Well, you’re going to have a lot of competition. You better be ready to fight for NichKhun or you’re going to lose him.” I looked down feeling the blood rush to my face. This conversation was getting way out of control.

“He won’t have too...” NichKhun replied in my stead. JaeJoong merely laughed.

I sighed. Today really was going to be a long day..
